The possibility…
Of loss.
Of a proposition.
Of a dinner date.
Of fantasy.
Of the hottie next door.
Of romance.

Modern Shorts: A Contemporary Romance Collection is comprised of five short stories, each with a contemporary setting and heterosexual liaison, ranging from romance to erotica. Themes include exploring sexual fantasies, taking sensual risks, deepening relationships. Each story is written in first person with a woman in her prime (that is, thirty-five years or older) as the central heroine. Except “Object” which is written in third person from a male point-of-view.

The Collection

This collection includes the following previously published contemporary romance short stories:

Silent Sky
A moody romance set in California on September 11, 2001. The possibility of loss spurs a woman to reminisce about her once-perfect marriage. “Silent Sky” was originally published by the Naughty Literati in Naughty Reunions: Return to Romance, then republished in Getting Naughty: Twenty Tantalizing Tales.

An Age Play
Romance author Jean is propositioned by a young man eager for her sensual expertise. But what will Jean’s husband say? This short first appeared in Sweet Confessions: Erotic Fantasies for Couples published by Cleis Press.

Object
A dinner date with his girlfriend becomes something more than Nigel bargained for. This flash fiction BDSM story first appeared in The Big Book of Submission, Volume 1: 69 Kinky Tales published by Cleis Press.

Orcas
An erotica short set on Orcas Island, and one of my Stories from the San Juan Islands. A lawyer on vacation finds stress relief in a hot tub and fantasies of a honed cyclist. The story first appeared in Begging For It: Erotic Fantasies for Women published by Cleis Press.

Window Display
In this tale of unexpected voyeurism and romance set in Zurich, Switzerland, an American scholar trying to finish her dissertation finds her room has a very distracting view. The story was originally published by the Naughty Literati in Naughty Escapes: Eleven Naughty Vacation Getaways, then republished in Getting Naughty: Twenty Tantalizing Tales.

Sexy fun includes: light BDSM innuendo, role play, mature/youth, college virgin, Eurovan sex, polyamory, male bondage/submission, fantasies, masturbation, sex with a stranger, voyeurism, mutual masturbation, semi-public sex, semi-public nudity.

Reviews for Modern Shorts

“…a collection of short stories and each will take you on a different journey. Some will make you cry, some will make you laugh and some will lighten your heart. Sit and enjoy them all.” — Tanyawriter, 5 stars on Amazon.

“great little reads…just perfect for when you have a spare hour…” — Poppy on Amazon UK.

“In Modern Shorts the ‘right someone’ might be a half-estranged husband, an eager-to-learn student or maybe a cyclist with legs for days. Every scenario is well drawn, interesting, and sexy and every heroine is portrayed with gutsy truth as she thinks to herself things like, ‘Can I use the jets on this quaint B&B’s hot tub to get myself off?’ and ‘Should I stop watching the sexy German across the way shower every morning?’ Folks, these are questions I need the answers to and so do you. Highly recommended for a set of quick, sexy adventures.” — biscuitsandbodices on Instagram.
