In 116 CE, during the Roman invasion of Parthia, Roedogune, a Parthian princess, was taken captive and held in Rome for twelve years. She was released by the Emperor Hadrian and returned home to Ctesiphon. Years later, she began a relationship with Arashis, a palace eunuch.
Roedogune is based on an actual historical figure, the unnamed Parthian princess captured by Trajan and released by Hadrian. Roedogune is also a minor character in my historical erotic epic Hadrian and Sabina: A Love Story.
