Read My Books For Free!

Want to read my ebooks for FREE? Here is a list of how you can read my ebooks for free and, well, sort of free.

Libraries: Free

I submit all of my ebooks to the following public library apps: BorrowBox (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and some other regions); cloudLibrary (USA, parent company is OCLC); Libby (USA, parent company is Overdrive); and Hoopla (USA).

Whether all my ebooks are accepted on all of these library apps is another matter. I use a distributor called Draft2Digital, a fundamentalist Christian company that believes romance is evil, but they have to accept romance in order to make a profit.

Because of this, some of my books are not available on Libby or Hoopla. Specifically, Hadrian and Sabina is not available on Hoopla, and Object is not on Libby or Hoopla (although I might have a workaround for Libby, we’ll see).

Hoopla also takes a very long time to add books to its catalog. This means some of my newer books are not available on Hoopla immediately. Eventually my books do show up unless they’re blocked.

Libby’s parent company Overdrive has sales a couple of times a year, meaning your public library can purchase my ebooks at a discount! Follow me on social media or subscribe to my newsletter to find out when these sales happen — and then request your library buy my ebooks!

Generally, my books are available on public library apps, where you read for free but I, the author, get paid!

Kobo Plus: Subscription

Kobo Plus is a non-exclusive subscription program where readers pay a monthly fee for unlimited reading of over 1.5 million ebooks and listening to over 150,000 audiobooks.

I use the phrase “non-exclusive” purposefully. Kobo Plus allows authors to have their ebooks available everywhere else in addition to Kobo Plus. This is not true of Amazon’s subscription program, Kindle Unlimited. My books are available on Amazon for your Kindle, but they are not exclusive to Amazon. You can buy my books at all major retailers, as well.

New subscribers to Kobo Plus get their first 14 days for free. After that, the monthly cost is cheaper than Kindle Unlimited. In the USA, Kobo Plus is $7.99 a month for just ebooks, or $7.99 a month for just audiobooks, or $9.99 a month for both. Note that I only have ebooks available, but all of my ebooks are enrolled in Kobo Plus.

Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs): Free

I use Booksprout to handle my Advanced Reader Copies of ebooks. An Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) is a book supplied to a reader in exchange for an honest review. ARCs are usually brand new, not-yet-published books. Booksprout allows authors to list new books as well as older titles.

So far, I have only posted new ebooks to Booksprout. For 2026, stories from my Steampunk series, The Ockham Steam-Works Laboratory Chronicles, will continue to be available for review.

I do plan to post some older ebooks there eventually, just to get a few more reviews for those titles.

To be alerted to when I have an ARC available for review, please follow me on Booksprout! Creating a reader/reviewer account is free!

Happy Free Reading!
